Espresso Machine: Boiler Sight
Glass
The boiler sight glass is used to
determine the water content of the steam that is forced
through the steam wands. Most espresso machines will
have an adjustable probe at the top of the steam boiler
which can be pulled in and out to control the steam level.
It is typical to have the water at about half the height
of the site glass to maintain a good vapor pressure, but
feel free to adjust the pressure if the milk is not frothing
properly.
