coffee screensCoffee Screen Size

Coffee screen size ranges from 10-22.  However, the most common sizes are 15-18. Each size is 1/64th of an inch.

Some countries, such as Colombia, will use screen size as an indicator of coffee quality. Although high altitude coffees will often grow to be a larger size than coffees grown at lower altitudes, the various coffee varietals will grow to different sizes and should not be used as an indicator of quality. Furthermore, it is known that high concentrations of nitrogen will augment bean size, but deteriorate coffee quality.
